Colourful Thief: Bio
"I've fallen for the music and I'm the offspring of every band I've ever heard"
Welsh child's search for that empty place in modern music that is personal lyrics with a unique soul and love; that is the fuel for sound. Passion is the only thing that can drive someone to make music with an honest love of it.
The name came from an idea for a child's book that I had - I was going to do a series of stories that meant a lot underneath the child-like story, but the poetry I made for it has been either changed into songs or lost forever. I've been writing songs for years, but only now taking it really serious. Hopefully I'll be able to gain some followers and rise a little bit - but I'll never be fake - I'll never sing something I don't mean.
So - my name is Luke Kear, I've been around since i can remember - so Colourful Thief has been around for 17 years and more now, but really i started making music and recording it in the month of October 2006. Started recording with my phone - which was dreadful. After a month i bought a microphone for my pc, a cheap one, then i just kept making music non stop.
Then i met
The Deceptionist, joined the GLR project and I've been following it ever since. That all leads us up to the present: I'm still here and still using the same cheap microphone, still using my Hudson electric acoustic (named camomile). I also have an
electric, some special anniversary edition gold Squier (I know what your thinking- 'meh squier?'- but whatever fools get over it).
I personally think my music has progressed since those first recordings in that special month of October, but they still carry some obscure air with them, no matter what i'm writing, be it of a person or a situation, it has a rough mark of mine plastered all over it. Whether that is good or not i don't know, but it's there. Well there's nothing more for me to say that you can not hear in my music, so go listen, contact me and im sure i'll let you have tonnes of my music.
